8th July 2012

Yesterday I didn't do an entry to my blog. Probably due to number of factors, not least of which was playing with new toys.
Maison popped round with new computer which'd probably fit inside a cigarette packet. It's called a Raspberry Pi. The FAQ's can be found at www.raspberrypi.org/faqs. He plugged it into the telly and got it to load webpages and connect to the house network without any effort. It contains a boot image on an SD card and also handles wireless keyboard via Bluetooth. Can't wait to see it with XBMC installed on it.
Other than that didn't do anything except lie in the required posture positions.
Got another letter from the REI saying I had an appointment for the 18th July 2012. This letter is in addition to the one I already had for the 11th. Will need to check on Mon which one is valid.
Did however notice why the weather station isn't reporting any rainfall lately. IT IS BLOCKED. How do I know this? Well the collection bucket is now full to the brim. I'll need to give it a few more days before climbing the water tower to empty it and check it out.
Today hasn't been too much different.
The weather has been better today. Most of the day has been fine with not a lot of wind and not a little sunshine. Would have liked to go sailing again. Watched British Grand Prix on my tablet and then the Wimbledon final. Rain has stopped play at the moment.
They've now got the roof back on and it's restarting.
Murray lost
Yesterday I started to look into the steps needed to construct one of my own Android apps. Unfortunately today I found out that my netbook doesn't really have enough disk space left on it to cope. Also the screen is a little small. By the look of the design stage I'm going to need a bigger screen than I have at the moment. Somewhere in the 21" to 23" range maybe.
The bubble in the right eye is getting smaller everyday. Soon it will be irrelevant in helping the retina stay place. Once that happens I start doing little things around the house such as tidying the papers on the dining table etc,

It may or may not be rubbish, that's for you to decide.

Shouldn't have had the chinese last night. It was probably a bad idea due to the amount and then laying down straight away. Tasted ok just didn't have enough time to settle.

Up til then my intake had been in smaller more frequent amounts which can be dealt with while being horizontal. After being woken up by a food escape last night, I shall return to that.

I think my current bout of lethargy is due to lack of exposure to direct sunlight.

Lots more rain predicted for today. A months worth today in some places around the country. Mum and Dad have cancelled a week in the caravan because of it. They'll go up for the day instead to attend a christening near Lincoln.

Need to get laundry dried today as I'm down to last pair of skiddies. Despite what Jane thinks I don't use each pair four times. Great fun seeing her face when I suggest it though. B-)

Seems to be an ideas day today. Currently have thoughts about fire alarms, hero go pro app, and a timer app. Might need to come up with brain cooling device if I'm not careful.

Will have to wait though until I can get onto the netbook to install the required development software.

Talking of netbook I have noticed that my little Samsung seems to have a slight earth leakage issue. There is a slight tingle when I'm touching the little metal strip around the outside. Hopefully it won't get any worse. Have to make sure I backup the data just in case it does choose to die on me.

Seem to be a little better in myself today. Not sure why.

5th July 2012

Today's been a bit odd.

Have had a general malaise all day. Couldn't get into any sort of routine after getting up later than expected and showering.

Dosing eye sessions have been late and disjointed. Haven't been taking regular breaks either.

Started watching TV shows on the netbook but even this didn't last due to tiredness. Not sure what's been going on today.

The bubble in the eye is now less than 50% of my view so can't see this posturing lasting too much past 1 more week.

Ken said he'll look into getting me some more microvable meals for the next few days. Marvellous help.

I will need to get some exercise sorted as soon as able, with walking to/from shops or between the two houses. Still need to sort out the driving rules after posturing.

Have ordered my first tablet device. It is an ASUS transformer. Might make this posturing technique more bearable.

Despite Ken and Anne kindly bringing round new microwave meals I decided to get a chinese takeaway this evening. Just another thing in the mood of today.

4th July 2012

Can't really believe it is the start of week 2.

Am I going mad? While eating breakfast I saw on the telly that there is now an opera about Swindon town. Oh kay!

Looking into the eye this morning it seems that it is less bloody. Not so sure about the 'flap' I saw yesterday. Still going to appointment later this morning to get it checked out. I did see a large floater though so a check is a good thing.

Another miserable morning. Not a lot could be done even if my eye was sorted.

I would probably have to do stuff at FarFar Away. Decorating main bedroom and lounge fairly high on the list. Have got most of the cat5e cabling sorted down into the office. Need to work out best way to get them out of the main house and up to the dojo. Some sort of gland box maybe? Also how to route them into bedroom three.

Caroline kindly gave up some of her day off to drop me at the REI. Nice to catch up. We were lucky to find a parking space. Caroline actually stayed for the entire time.

Didn't actually take that long. We got there about 1100 and got a cuppa for each of us. Not long after went into to see the nurse for pre consultation. Just basically told her my concerns which were noted in my jacket. Went back out to the seats. Didn't have long to wait then either.

Once the consultant called me in he checked me over. The conjuctiva is a bit scarred hence my concern but the stitches are still in tact. The retina is still in place. Good to get it checked out though. Now waiting for the full check next week.

Weather warmed up quite substantially while we were inside.

Caroline brought me back and we had a very nice lunch of tomato and basil soup. It was one of the ones from Morrisons and excellent for a quid.

Back to posturing this afternoon. Weather seems to have improved quite a bit.

Spent an hour or two looking at YouTube videos. Got hooked into SlowMo guys. They do some quite rediculous things at times in front of a high speed camera. Check out the space laptop post.

Caitlin, Jane and Rose came round in the evening. Caitlin had made stew which was great. Very filling.

The house is a mess! Before going away to Abu Dhabi I was in the process of moving stuff to the new house and debris sort've gathered here at The Swamp. Add to that the normal chaos that happens whenever I get home and it's worse than ever.

3rd July 2012

Just heard a disgraceful story on the radio about some bloke dying in a London hospital from dehydration! Seriously! He even dialed 999 but when the police turned up they were turned away. Will look into it online.

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/health/man-who-died-of-dehydration-in-hospital-was-so-desperate-for-water-he-called-police-inquest-hears-7904061.html

Another wet start to today.

Looking at drugs being used - will try and update full info if I remember once I'm not using the phone.

Mydrilate 1.0% (red)
Maxidex 0.1% (green)
Chloramphenicol Eyedrops 0.5% (yellow)

The garden at The Swamp is pretty overgrown at the moment. Not going to be able to do anything about til my eye or the weather is better, which ever comes later.

Getting emails of support from the guys I know at work which is nice.

Got a parcel through the post today from the Hancox family. Contained a homemade get well card and a portion of millionaire shortbread. Lovely. Thanks chaps.

Caitlin is planning on cooking a stew for us tomorrow. Will be nice and warming given the current weather.

Looking in the right eye today I noticed what looks like a loose flap on the surface. As it appears to be near the site they poked holes I wasn't going to worry about it. However as I can't see it very well from all sides I have arranged an appointment with the REI tomorrow at 1120hrs.

2nd July 2012

Started a little late this morning. Still tired though with slight headache above right eye. Took one paracetomol to take the edge off.

Weather is a bit miserable this morning.

Finally got a mail from the builder confirming reason for delayed reply.Wanting to get it sorted out now so I can move in.

Caitlin popped round today with some supplies I'd requested. Her maternal grandmother was driving her and Rose.

Had the remainder of yesterday's pizza for todays lunch.

The weather has been truely bad all day. Nothing but rain and gusty wind.

Have had a couple more periods of headaches about the right eye. As it is not constant I am fairly convinced it's just due to lying in a certain way.

1st July 2012

Initially on waking up I thought it was gone 10 o'clock. Didn't feel like I'd slept very well. How could I still be tired after 12hours sleep when I don't do anything all day?

Despite being able to drop back to sleep I thought I'd better get up and start the day with a shower.

I have been trying to set a routine for each day so that I have something to keep me occupied.

Start the day at 0700hrs. Go down stairs and do the first clean and dose of the eye. Boil a small amount of water for cleaning then apply the eye drops. There are three different ones. Two of them are 4 times a day and the other only twice. To make it easier the nurses at the REI have colour coded them, red, yellow, green.

I am supposed to wait 10mins between each one. This is I guess, so that they have a chance to get working before being flushed away by the next drop. Seeing as I'm only supposed to have a ten minute break I don't think this is possible. In the morning I apply the red dose first then start breakfast. After that I apply yellow and green in relatively quick succesion.

The routine for the rest of the day is fairly boring. I have to lie on my side for fifty minutes out of every hour, alternating sides for each session. During these sessions I listen a lot. Noises outside, radio, podcasts etc. Also re-reading electronic books to pass the time. Updating my blog.

In the short ten minute breaks I get showered, eat meals, tidy small bits like putting washing away. Anything really to get up and do something.

At midday it is time for the second dosing/cleaning of the day. Lunch is at one o'clock. Third dosing/cleaning at five o'clock with tea at about six or seven depending on mood. Final dosing/cleaning with all three again is at 2200hrs, then bed.

Not exactly a massive energy burn as days go, so didn't explain why I felt tired at 1030 in the morning.

Turns out the Omega watch had stopped again. If it's not worn all the time it stops after about a day. Something I keep forgetting. Not being a massive horologist not sure if this is normal for this type.Checking the electronic timepieces told me it was only 0630.

Weather looks glorious this morning. Doesn't look anything like the doom and gloom Anne predicted. Still, that may've been to stop me going stir crazy.

Definitely Sunday. Can hear the bells of the local church from the spare bedroom. Decided to turn the pond pump on to hear the sound of trickling water. Unfortunately it isn't really loud enough.

The wind picked up during the day. Probably not a good day to go sailing after all.

Will need to look into getting some supplies in soon.

Ken and Anne have said they'll pop round for supper later. Brought round a pizza. Big enough for tomorrow as well.

Not sure sitting up, even with my head tilted to the side, is good for any length of time as I now have a headache. Might be nothing to do with sitting up but will have to see.
