Back on the alarm clock! :-[ 0630hrs. And yes the O stands for OMG it's early.

It is now official. I am now a member of the rat race, something I was happily avoiding for the last 22 years.

Have given myself a little extra time to wake up etc.  Having to hit certain targets at certain times.

0630 - wake up
0710 - be dressed
0800 - finish breakfast and start walking to the office.
0830 - be in the office wide awake and bushy tailed.

Managed to resist the cooked breakfast this morning. The Hilton ones aren't too bad at all and I will probably have one at some point.

Actually got into the office a little early and had to wait until the canteen was open at 0830.

The day went by fairly easily. A lot more tea breaks than I was expecting.

Met one of the top knobs in the canteen today. 'Hi Zippy' she said, 'But I here we're calling you Peter now'. 'Not as far as I know!' said I.

As far as I can see this whole data transfer thing is a severe bodge. I didn't realise the project has already been going approx 6 years but that includes an abortive attempt at some other system. Didn't follow it all but I think there must be an easier way to get things done. I have a lot more to go through yet, both here in Gatwick and with the personnel in Asker. Gods it would've been easier if I'd been in at the start. 
There's been no attempt to formalise things until now when two of the main people are quitting at the end of Sept. No wonder there is now a mad rush to pick brains etc.

I only hope I can live up to expectations.

Supper was quite expensive in the buffet restaurant. For a two course buffet with a 20% discount it still came to £20. I think I might wander into the airport and see what the eateries in there have to offer tomorrow.
