I had planned to get up reasonably early this morning to allow some more time to get up the driveway. If it didn't work first time I'd have enough time to come back down to put the tyre chains on.
This is exactly what I had to do.
The temperature was above zero today and a bit of slush was on the ground.
After the first failed attempt I came back inside to change out of the office attire into cargo trousers for getting down onto my knees to put the chains on. I'd just have to change into them once I got to work.
The left chain seemed to go on correctly but the right one looked a bit off. I couldn't be bothered to sort it out though so gave it a go. I managed to eventually get to the top. Sure enough the right had chain had slipped off. Luckily the chain hadn't caught in the wheel to wrap itself around. It was still a bugger to remove though.
I made it to the petrol station and it cost me 200NOK and the fuel gauge did go up to full! Next time a car hire company says the fuel gauge doesn't work I'll insist we go to the pumps and try anyway!
Got to car hire place before 0735hrs. As they didn't open til 0800hrs I had to wait a little while before I could head off to the office.
The walk to the office wasn't too bad. I put my spikes on. Was carrying the laptop back to the office. Hadn't had chance to use it over the weekend. Seemed a bit odd walking from the town centre straight to the office.
Office work was not too bad today. Well I had issues obviously but it didn't add up to much.
I walked back into town with Eileen. The pavements were very slippery. I was nervous as hell about falling over. Not getting any younger ya know.
When I got to Rimi I very nearly ended up on my arse. Time for the spikes.
By the time I got back to the flat it'd been about 1hr from the office. This included a stop at Clas Ohlsen for a stick-on hook and soap rack for the shower.
Had a freezer chilli with rice for supper.
