Not much to report today. He starts with that statement but we'll have to wait and see.

Weather still cold!

On way home from office went via fruit and veg store to pick up some bits. The plan was to use the meat I'd bought a few days ago to make a number of meals for the freezer.

Also stopped off at Clas Ohlsen store to get an iron and a kettle for the new flat. Bought a fire blanket as another backup. Better to be prepared than sorry.

Thought I'd start with a chicken curry. Unfortunately the chicken didn't smell as fresh as it could've been. It might just have been over the edge by a day but I wasn't prepared to risk it. Threw it away. Have to be careful of that in the future. Cannot afford to waste food.

Change of tack required then. The mince also looked like it was starting to gas as the pack was expanding. Not so bad though and I'd make sure it was fully cooked. This was going to start as a bolognese sauce. I added some red wine which made a difference to the sauce but also meant the bottle was now open.

While it was cooking I spent a long time getting the blog up to date for yesterday. Webster made a comment last time I was at home saying that people were reading it. Haven't seen any comments yet though.

When the bolognese sauce was ready I took one serving for tonights supper and portioned off another two for the freezer. To the remainder I added two pots of kidney beans and three large chillies from the freezer. The heat was turned down to minimum and left to simmer.

During supper I had the remainder of the wine. Felt good.

I stopped cooking the chilli at about 2230hrs and managed four pportions for the freezer. Not a bad haul really, 7 meals from 500g of mince. I think I could've added more beans to make even more chilli though to make it go further.
